Prevention of bacterial nosocomial infections caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Legionella pneumophila, Stenotrophomonas maltophilia or Staphylococcus aureus in immunocompromised and immunosuppressed patients.
The effect is achieved by interrupting the transmission path of these germs through filtration of the water and protection against retrograde contamination when using the water taps through hygienic design and antimicrobial protection functions
- Safe water hygiene
- Adjustable flow rate
- Reusable product with reprocessing and delivery service
- Highly effective bactericidal coating of the outlet area and antimicrobial additives in the plastic housing
Germlyser® AM terminal hollow fibre membrane filter is especially developed for the care of intensive care patients, changed after a single use with each patient. The 0.2 μm hollow fibre membrane retains the critical germs Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Legionella pneumophila, Stenotrophomonas maltophilia and Staphylococcus aureus. The chemical composition of the water is not altered.
The housing of the Germlyser® AM is made of a plastic that contains an antimicrobial additive. This prevents the growth of germs that can get onto the filter from outside, e.g. through splash water, aerosols from the siphon or by touch. The additive used in the plastic is approved for food and medical products. In addition, the water outlet of the Germlyser® AM is silver-plated. Due to the strong bactericidal effect of the silver coating, this offers increased protection against germ colonisation at the point of withdrawal.
Due to its product characteristics, the Germlyser® AM offers effective protection of immunocompromised and immunosuppressed patients against nosocomial infections caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Legionella pneumophila, Stenotrophomonas maltophilia or Staphylococcus aureus as well as against infections with these germs through retrograde contamination when using the water withdrawal point.
- Dimensions: L 113 mm x Ø 43 mm
- Retention: 7 log steps B. diminuta.
- Pore size: 0.2 µm
- Operating time: Depending on the application
- Chlorine retention*: ≤ 10 ppm
- Minimum flow rate: Adjustable up to 5 l/min, at 5 bar at 25 °C
- Maximum operating pressure**: 5 bar at 60 °C
- Maximum operating temperature: 60 °C (at 70 °C < 10 min. over operating time)
- Connection: Quick-release coupling
As the operating time increases, the water quality can impact on the maximum available flow rate.
* Continuous dosage of ≤ 10 ppm over operating time; short-term (1h) high dosage (400,000 ppm) for chemical disinfection.
** The Germlyser® AM is not suitable for connection to low-pressure systems (e. g. boilers).
Reprocessing and delivery service
The Aqua free Germlyser® reusable filter system offers customers a safe, environmentally friendly and efficient alternative to single-use filters. Aqua free manage the logistics of delivery and return of filters – which is included in the rental rate of the filters – reducing inventory costs and administration.
All filters are reprocessed by Aqua free using a validated process and following strict quality standards. Quick-release couplings allow filters to be safely changed in seconds and barcodes, identifying filter and location, ensure simple logging and documentation of the whole change process.
Aqua free reusable filters deliver a significant reduction in waste and carbon footprint compared to single-use filters.
